Week of March 1

Monday= Word Study 2.10 was handed out. The complete list can be found on the left hand side of this blog. In poetry we learn about similes and metaphors.

Tuesday = We continue our poetry unit comparing two poems: one written in simile form and the other in metaphor. Next, we began personification. (personification = giving human characteristics to non-human objects. Example: The rain gently kissed me on my cheeks.)

Wednesday = Personification part 2. Using photos, the class brainstormed ways to use personification. We finished by having each student choose a picture and write their own phrase of personification. (Personification phrase to match photo is due Thursday)

Thursday = We will be finishing personification and listening to Slam poetry!

Friday =Word Study 2.10 test. Poetry reading : ) ...a chance to show off our hard work in poetry.
