Monday: Language Arts     Daily Homework for ALL students: Read for at least 20 minutes, every night!
o   In/out procedures
o   Introduction to 7th Grade Skills unit.  
        We will begin by discussing the unit's essential questions.
·   What does collaborative group work look like? SL.7.1.
·   What are the basic parts of speech that make up the English language?  L.7.1.
·   How do you give credit to someone else’s work?  W.7.6.
·   How do you avoid plagiarism? W.7.6

Monday: Reading Skills:  AS ALWAYS student need to read at least 20 minutes EACH night J
o   In/out procedures
o   Just Right Books
We will be looking at STAR test results and evaluating current reading choices.
o   Reading Time

Tuesday: Language Arts
o   In/out – Why might collaborative group work, parts of speech, and learning how to cite other’s information
o   Class Discussion – the teacher will record the results of the In/Out and discuss why it is important to learn the skills listed.

Tuesday: Reading Skills
o   Context Clues
What are they and how do we use them? Examples will be given and practice allowed
Independently, students will be expected to apply their new skill on the book they are currently reading.
o   Reading Time

Wednesday: Language Arts
o   In/out – What bugs you about group work?
o   Group Work Norms
Individual and groups will be discussing group norms – what group work should look like.

Wednesday: Reading Skills
o   In/out – List at least 2 words (including page #) that were unknown to you.
o   Group Work – Student will attempt to use context clues to determine the meaning of the In/Out words
o   Reading Time

Thursday: Language Arts AND Reading Skills
o   Read Read Read!!
While students read, I will be conferencing with individual students about their STAR and Discovery test results. Look for paperwork to come home
Friday: NO SCHOOL for STUDENTS
