Monday: Language Arts
Word Study 1.1 was handed out, reviewed and placed in student binders. The may be found on the right hand side of this blog.

I also handed out and explained students reading logs. Many studies show the importance of increasing the rate at which students read. The only way to do that is through practice! ALL students are required to read a minimum of 20 minutes per night. The log given to students allowed them to track the speed with which they currently reading, as well as, their future progress.

Our reading goal this year is to have each student read 40 books by the end of the year.

Monday: Reading Skills
Our lessons this week center around using context clues to determine the meaning of unknown words. Students will be asked to list unknown word from today’s reading and try to determine what context clues there are and how they could be used.
