We're off to
a great start! This week we begin, Introduction to 7th Grade Skills, a unit which
will give students a strong foundation upon which to build.
Monday - Today, students will receive their
first word study list Word Study 1.1 (1.1 = first trimester. first lesson). All the word study
lists can be found on the right hand side of this post. Look for the heading,
"Word Study," click on "trimester 1," and the whole
trimester's worth of lists will appear. (As an added bonus, the answers will be
there too!)
To build upon background knowledge of group work, we will be
exploring the similarities and differences between cooperative and
collaborative group work. We will be using a double bubble map to record our
learning.
Tuesday – will be the start of our Introduction to 7th
Grade Skills unit. We
will begin by discussing the unit’s essential questions.

does collaborative group work look like? SL.7.1.
· What
are the basic parts of speech that make up the English language? L.7.1.
· How do
you give credit to someone else’s work?
W.7.6.
· How do you avoid plagiarism? W.7.6

Wednesday - we will discuss the value of
collecting our thoughts before meeting as a group. Group behaviors will be
examined and, finally, each student will evaluate their strengths and weakness
when working in a group.
Thursday - lesson will center on how to work as a
collaborative group member. Groups will practice stage one of active listening:
restate/clarify.
Friday - Word Study 1.1 test
