Mystery
  • a narrative that involves an unsolved crime
  • Focus of the plot is the crime solver – not the criminal
  • Clues are given
  • Exciting and suspenseful 
Drama
  • a play
  • a story written to be performed
  • is dramatic! (drama queen)
  • has stage directions (notes that tell the actors what to do)

Poetry
  • Short form of narrative
  • Uses rhythm, rhyme and figurative language (language that put a picture in your mind. NOT meant to be taken literally)
  • Uses sesory details

Adventure
  • There is usually an accident/disaster in the beginning which puts the main character at risk or leaves them in stranded in a dangerous place.
  • has lots of action in the plot
  • the main character has to complete a dangerous/difficult/unexpected task to solve his/her problem.
Fantasy
  • Written as if the story were real and in present day.
  • Has Magic
