At Last! Gram-o-Ramma Week Begins!!!
During 7th grade, Language Arts students move away from the basic skills required in elementary school toward the more sophisticated writing of adults. To accomplish this task, we need a common vocabulary. Our common vocabulary begins with the 8 parts of speech. (nouns, verbs, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions, interjections and prepositions!)In September, all students took a diagnostic test on the eight parts of speech. This week, students will be learning the parts of speech which they did not pass. Next Tuesday will be the cumulative test on all eight parts of speech. All students will be required to take this test and the results will be posted on PowerSchool.
Monday
Word Study 1.7 will be handed out. We will review the words and definitions as well
Gram-o-Ramma! begins today!! A fun filled week of grammar skill lessons. We will be beginning at the beginning with nouns and pronouns. Many students already passed the pronoun worksheet and will only need to take the test.
Quick Write Revision - While some are all learning their parts of speech, others will be working on a Quick Write revision Students will be asked to take a Quick Write entry of their choice, and revise it by adding details. Detail should be added using the same technique we learned as we wrote the “Versus” paper. ( There is a video lesson to help you add details to your revision on the right-hand side of the blog)
Revisions are due Friday November 4th. They need to be no less than ¾ of a page typed or a full page handwritten. Only quality work will be accepted. This is a final draft and needs to be formatted correctly.
Tuesday – Thursday
We will continue with the plan above, covering adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions, interjections and finally prepositions.
Friday
Word Study test 1.6!
Quick Write revisions are due!! Please review final copy requirements if you have forgotten. Papers that are either/or not in final copy form/ too short, will not be accepted.
