I cannot believe January is almost gone! Ike! Time is going too fast.
In class, we are currently killing two birds with one stone, by combining poetry with lessons on the parts of speech. We're doing this through the use of pattern poems. Pattern poems follow a particular formula. Our first poem was a diamante. It follows a diamond pattern using parts of speech. Not all pattern poems teach parts of speech. The most famous example of a non-part of speech pattern poem would be the haiku. You can see the poem types we are using by looking in the “Poetry” folder on the right-hand side of the blog.
Later on we will be getting into figurative language like similes, metaphors and personification.
Don't forget! Student-Led Conferences are taking place on the evenings on Feb. 1 and 3 from 4:30 until 7:00PM.
